When Someone Listened
Regina Puckett
At one time, Daddy’s little princess and Mommy’s little girl
But it’s been a long time since I’ve been someone’s entire world
All too soon childhood is just a pleasant memory-a time to reflect
When everything you said or did wasn’t something people would reject
People hung on your every word and cherished every thought
You were kept safe in the family circle-a prize that can’t be bought
Now every day’s a struggle and every love has to be fought for
Because people are too ready to shove you from their heart’s door
Oh to be a child again when all I had to do was laugh and play
To go back to a time when someone listened to what I had to say
