The Dark Forest: Literature, Philosophy, and Digital Arts

There is a myth going around about objects,
that they can withdraw from all relation;
now if you believe that an object is real
and can love you like a parrot or a cat,
then act upon an object now, pick up smile
off your lover’s lips, spin it round on all sides;
twist it to your ears and see what it does,
it might surprise you with a kiss. Oh, my!
Now if you’re so unlucky it withdraws,
vanishes within its navigational clause,
dissipates before the very magic of your eye,
this smile; be careful now it might just bite
you instead of kissing; so if this smile begets
a frown within your dream, you know its
your lover’s tricks that are haunting you.
Objects are so strange to hide their inner life. Don’t you think?
