Book Review: Spirit Me Away by Aaron Paul Lazar

Open this book and step back into 1969!  Having been best friends since childhood, Gus and Elsbeth LeGarde are newly married college students.  They are young, naïve, and right on the cusp of the Age of Aquarius.  Free love, love beads, love children, and love-ins abound, but there is unseen danger, too.

The young couple decides to befriend and shelter a lost, amnesiac girl and try to find her family as well as her memory.  The story features a full cast of unique and quirky characters.  Readers who are familiar with the Gus LeGardemystery series know that Gus and Elsbeth were raised in a rural, protected environment and will not be surprised by their inexperience and willingness to help a lost stranger.  Their lack of proficiency is offset by a couple of tough, savvy Viet Nam vets who contribute their skills to help.

Viv Drewa is a Michigan native who has enjoyed reading and writing since 1963. Though she studied medicinal chemistry at the University of Michigan, her passion has always been writing.
