Stand Up To Cancer

Cancer sucks. Just thought I’d get that out of the way.
I’ve lost people to cancer.  I’m sure most people have.

I love that celebrities use their celebrity for a good cause, like the Stand UpTo Cancer concert event (NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox), tonight Friday September 5, 2014.#SU2C @SU2C and here in Canada@su2c_ca

I know I’ll enjoy the show tonight, it’ll be wonderful, full of inspirational, sharable, moving moments. There will be tweets, retweets, updates, posts, memes, but when the excitement fades, when people have moved on to the next thing, cancer will still be there.

I believe most celebrities and people have the best intentions when jumping on these cause bandwagons. I think most celebrities do care on some level.1cancer10

The next day, the world will move on and you know what will be left? People with cancer…or other issues: ALS, MS, CP, Diabetes…

Viv Drewa is a Michigan native who has enjoyed reading and writing since 1963. Though she studied medicinal chemistry at the University of Michigan, her passion has always been writing. She had been awarded third place for her nonfiction short story about her grandfather's escape from Poland. Later, she rewrote this story and was published in the "Polish American Journal" as "From the Pages of Grandfather's Life" and has republished it on Amazon.com as a short story.
