Yesterday evening I finished rereading The Grey Goose of Kilnevin by Patricia Lynch. Anybody else brought up on Patricia Lynch? I bet some of you were. I wanted to get hold of her books for my own children and guess what? She’s out of print and has been for decades. I even wrote to her old publisher and asked them what was going on and got one of those replies to the effect of: we’re always being asked for them but there’s just no demand.
Patricia Lynch (1894-1972) was one of Ireland’s best-loved children’s writers. She was a committed nationalist, a socialist and a journalist who covered the Easter Rising for Sylvia Pankhurst’s paper, The Workers’ Dreadnought.
