The livestock broke into mass panic. The night was suddenly filled with the bellowings of the cows, the wailing bawls of terrified calves, and the high-pitched squeals of piglets. Stampeding hooves rumbled, echoed through the hollows. The frantic flappings of wings from dozens of game chickens popped and fluttered. The feathered creatures, ignited by the onslaught racing up the hillside and the terrifying uproar that erupted below, fled their safe roosts in the trees and dropped straight into the paths of death.
