If you live or work in south east England – defined as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex – think seriously about applying for a New Buds Award.
This is a bursary scheme run by New Writing South that awards small development grants of up to £1000 to six writers each year. The grant can cover: professional training (but not formal education at university or college), mentoring fees, travel costs for attending a course, research or other valid and viable means of support that will enable a writer to fulfill their own aims. Awards will be between £250 to a maximum of £1000, but most applications average £500.
The deadline is Friday April 10 and the results will be announced two weeks later. You can download the application form from New Writing South’s website HERE
