Character Conversation from “Over Her Dead Body” by Karen Vaughan

over her dead body.jpg

“Oh shit!” I heard myself utter and ran for Gerry’s truck. I found a huge gaping hole where the windshield had been and Gerry holding his bleeding nose.

“What the hell happened?” I screamed. Beside Gerry on the seat, was a smashed watermelon full of windshield glass.

Gerry answered back, “I tink my node is bwoke.”

I dug my cell out and called 9-1-1 and also called into the restaurant for a frozen bag of peas for Gerry’s broken nose.
