From diapers, pretend high heels and then a wedding dress
My father held my hand through my baby wails and until I said yes
My early years soon became an assortment of precious recollections
Of the man who throughout my life offered corrections and directions
But life has a way of turning on a dime and spinning out of control
Until one day where a father once existed there is only a black hole
Life is a continuous circle of birth, happiness, sadness and finally death
Even though he’s gone, I’ll hold my dad close until my very last breath
