1) How long have you been writing?

Since 2010

2) What or who was your inspiration to write?

My first inspiration to write started at a time when I was grieving for my parents and wrote a poem which inspired a book that was a short Memoir  which chronicled some odd events in my life. After a change of lifestyle I was forced into semiretirement and moved with my husband out of the country to the Cayman Islands. Here I had plenty of time to write. Since I was a veteran children’s reading specialist I decided to write for young adults. I spent many years reading and writing with students from grades kindergarten through high school.

3) Which genre do you like to read? Why?

I love to read Paranormal Romance because I am a romantic at heart and love the Paranormal twist to it. I’ve loved ghost stories since I was a little girl. I would stay up late at night watching scary movies and reading books.

4) Do you write this genre or others? Why?

I write mainly Paranormal genre for young adult to adult laced with real historical facts. I love to find odd historical events and twist them into a story. Why not rewrite history?

5) Who are your favorite authors?

My favorite authors are Karen Marie Moning, Amanda Hocking and  Tima Maria Lacoba, a new Aussie author who has written a new Vamp Series I am addicted to.

6) How do you create your characters?

I create my characters by actually relating them to someone I know in real life and giving them extra personality changes to turn them into a fictitious character. Having a real person to start with gives me a base foundation with which to add on to. I mold  in the personality changes that enable them to fit into the story line.

7) Do you give them names before you develop them?

Yes, I do. I feel I have to have a name and face also. First I find the right image for the character’s face, then I search through names until one jumps out at me. It really has to ‘click.’

8) How do you choose your characters names?

I search for common names that correspond to the time period of the story. I choose a few that catch me eye and live with them for a few days making sure they are a good fit for the story.

9) Do you edit as you write or after you get your manuscript written?

I have a process of writing one chapter then going back to revise it. It is not until I am completely done with the entire manuscript that I go back and do a complete revision before I send it off to my editor.

10) Do you have an agent, publisher, or self-publish?

I self publish with the help of a company who does my formatting and uploading as I am not a techie person at all. My future goal is to find an agent and I’m ready to begin the search.

11) What advice have you received to help you and what advice would you give a new writer?

I have been given loads of advice from the vast network of veteran authors I connect with. Some of the best advice has been to not spread myself out too thin. Stick to a few social media platforms and keep consistent with that. In the beginning I joined everything. I was going crazy trying to keep up with every site.  I would advise new authors to do the same. Also to network with some of the great groups on Facebook and LinkedIn and get some author friends to guide you along.
