Clem & Clyde~

This is a photo taken by my son in law Sean, after he and my daughter found a basset hound pup abandoned, starving, covered with ticks, scabs, and infected with Giardia, in California’s Central Valley. They immediately took Clyde to the vet, who wasn’t hopeful that he could make it.

Here is Clyde three months later, celebrating Christmas at The Holler with his new mom, my daughter Dre. What a difference love makes!

Clyde is just as sweet as he looks. He shows no signs of prior trauma except for a marked fear of The Holler coyotes when they howl at night. He must have experienced some terrifying interactions with coyotes in the Central Valley. There are no coyotes where Clyde lives and he can be comforted out of his fear reaction when he hears The Holler yotes yell.

Viv Drewa is a Michigan native who has enjoyed reading and writing since 1963. Though she studied medicinal chemistry at the University of Michigan, her passion has always been writing. She had been awarded third place for her nonfiction short story about her grandfather's escape from Poland. Later, she rewrote this story and was published in the "Polish American Journal" as "From the Pages of Grandfather's Life" and has republished it on Amazon.com as a short story. Viv took creative and journalism courses to help in her transition to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer. She worked as an intern for Port Huron's 'The Times Herald", and also wrote, edited and did the layout or the Blue Water Multiple Sclerosis newsletter "Thumb Prints."
