Thanks for this Viv. I find this extremely interesting.
The two big ones for me are:
1. The countries which do not use the metric system of measurements. Bearing in mind that the USA were on the original list of signatories to the agreement to adopt Le Système International d’Unités, it is puzzling to find that only USA, Liberia and Myanmar resist the change.
2. Comparing the map of countries who drive on the left with the first map (areas of the world containing 1 billion people), it seems that roughly half of the world’s population drive on one side of the road, and half on the other side. No wonder there are so many road traffic accidents!
