KDP, CreateSpace, Fate and Me
I know the title sounds a bit pretentious, but as I begin yet another round of editing on the KDP how-to, I can’t help feeling that Fate is looking out for me. How else to explain the fact that the IngramSpark review result came back just one day after KDP swallowed CreateSpace whole?
To give you an idea of the timeline, I approved the KDP how-to for publishing by CreateSpace just one day before the announcement of the merger.
On the day of the announcement, I logged back into the KDP website and discovered that I could no longer migrate my CreateSpace books over to KDP manually. The option to do so was gone, completely. The before and after screenshots below highlight the change in the KDP interface.
This is how the KDP interface looked before the merger:

If you clicked the button for ‘No’, you’d be shown the options…

INTERVIEW WITH AUTHORS ROBBIE CHEADLE AND MICHAEL CHEADLE!
Robbie Cheadle
Please help me welcome authors Robbie and Michael Cheadle to Jemsbooks.blog Segment of Interview an Author.
It’s a pleasure to have you here, Robbie and Michael. The soap box is all yours.
1. Please tell us something about yourself.
I am a qualified chartered accountant and have worked in corporate finance and capital markets for 19 years. I started writing poetry as a young teenager but stopped when I was 16 years old. I started writing poetry again in 2014. I was watching my children and niece playing one morning when a poem came into my head, virtually fully formed.
I started writing publications in 2014 for work. I wrote a series of seven non-fiction publications about the African capital markets. This gave me a lot of insight into the formatting, editing and publication process.

He’s a key part of our lives and we are lost without him.
I’m empty inside and find it increasingly hard to put words on the page. I hope this is a short term thing, I mean it’s not like I can’t text or FaceTime him whenever I…

For Indie Publishers: When and Why to Work with a Trade Book Distributor – by Joe Biel…
Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog
on Jane Friedman site:
As a small and new indie publisher, it’s hard to sell even 100 copies of a book in a month, let alone every month. Bookstores will give you the runaround of why they can’t stock your book because of such-and-such ordering policy. If a book is not published with advance notice and it’s by an unknown author and an unknown publisher, that’s three strikes for most major accounts and you’re not even considered.
Many new publishers thus believe that gaining access to trade distribution would be the holy grail of their publishing quest. But like all things that we think we want, the results are not exactly what you might expect.
