Apologies…

Mae Clair's avatarFrom the Pen of Mae Clair

It’s the start of a new week and I’m hoping for a better one than last. I started to go downhill midweek, and by Friday was feeling pretty awful. Having what I thought was a summer cold was a new experience for me. I have never been sick in the summer.

By Saturday morning I was so bad, my husband had to take me to one of those walk-in clinic things, These places are gold! We were there before the doors opened and were the first ones in. I left with a prescription for antibiotics for a sinus infection—one of the worst I’ve ever had. It made all the difference being able to get those doses in me before Monday when I would have been able to get a regular doctor appointment. I’m still on the mend, but so much better than I was Friday and over the weekend.

…AUTHORS… why do YOU write?…

Seumas Gallacher's avatarSeumas Gallacher

…I’m led to believe that in a protracted game of chess, from start to finish, there may be possible combinations of moves amounting to billions… given the number of books that have been written since Man first discovered how to put WURDS on to stone, paper, typewriters , and computing devices, that figure of billions could easily be surpassed by the aggregate combinations of stories and narratives produced over the millennia…

…it’s not a difficult step from that suggestion to surmise there are prob’ly countless reasons why anyone in particular may want to ‘write’… when this ol’ Scots Jurassic scribbler first began to write seriously, about a decade ago, never having written a novel before, my primary urge was merely to see if I could actually produce and complete a whole book… little did I know what lay in store… the first time I wrote ‘The End’

Summer heat and glorious flowers!

jjspina's avatarJEMSBOOKS

This summer is supplying heat and lots of humidity but along with that come the flowers in all their glory.

Here are some of the flowers in our yard. With a few rainstorms in between they have managed to stay healthy and vibrant.

My husband and I went to a lovely spot tonight after a fun movie (Mama Mia – Here We Go Again) and dinner out. I had to snap a few photos of this pond behind one of the many apple orchards in our town. It was serene and eerily quiet and conducive to contemplation. Maybe the backdrop for a new novel or book cover. Hmm! Always thinking about the next book. (All photos here are copyrighted.)

This would be a perfect place to curl up with a good book! Ahh! Maybe bring the bug spray though!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my flowers as much as I do…

Short Story/Serial Monday – First Impressions – Part 9

Unknown's avatarDon Massenzio

This story is becoming more fun to write as I’m able to integrate places that I’ve traveled to, familiar characters and an underlying thread that ties it together with other stories. I’m also working on another related ‘Kongo’ story that won’t be shared until this story, No Pain-No Gain and Memories of Rachel are all compiled into a themed collection. I’m not sure what the readership will be, but it’s been a fun and useful exercise to write these tales.

On a side note, I’ve updated my Author Directory and Serial pages. You can now find all  the authors I’ve interviewed over the past 3 years and the serials that I’ve written, two of which have become books this year.

Now, please enjoy Part 9 of First Impressions.

Is this the start of something good… The Wedding From Hell, Part 1 by J. R. Ward #Romance #BookReview @JRWard1

Jacquie Biggar's avatarJacquie Biggar-USA Today Best-selling author

Don’t miss #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward’s three-part ebook serialization: The Wedding From Hell. This exclusive prequel to her upcoming standalone suspense Consumed (available in October 2018) takes us back to where it all started between arson investigator Anne Ashburn and ‘bad boy’ firefighter Danny Maguire. The Wedding From Hell is a sexy standalone novella that sets up Consumed’s storyline, leaving fans hungry for more and dying to snatch it up.

The Wedding From Hell, Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner: It’s a classic recipe for disaster: Take one bridesmaid who thinks pink is the root of all evil, mix with a best man who’s hotter than a four-alarm fire, add in their explosive sexual attraction, a nightmare bridezilla, two cat fights, and an emergency call, and you have the wedding from hell.

Experience the sizzling start of Anne and Danny’s intense relationship…

Rich with clever twists and sparkling scenery, Murder in the Med is the ultimate summer holiday read.

My Thoughts:

Review: Best-selling author Samatha Tonge takes a new direction with new novel Forgive Me Not

Sue Featherstone's avatarBook Lovers' Booklist

Forgive Me Not 2 (002)Every reader knows never to judge a book by its cover.

So true – because the pretty, canary yellow, sunshine cover of Forgive Me Not doesn’t even begin to hint at some of the difficult themes explored by author Samantha Tonge.

It’s a bit of a departure for Tonge, who’s better known as a best-selling romance novelist.

But her own battles with alcohol and addiction and her journey towards well-being provided the inspiration for Emma, the recovering alcoholic heroine of Forgive Me Not.

But this is not just the story of Emma’s struggle for sobriety, as well as sibling rivalry,
