Should I Pay to Publish My Book? – by Melissa Bowersock…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's avatarChris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

on Indies Unlimited site:

Here at IU, we continually get questions from readers about publishers.

Should they publish with them? Are they legit?

There are so many of these outfits popping up all the time (and fading away), itโ€™s hard to stay current on all of it, so we thought it was time to go back over the general issues you could/should apply to any publishing company you consider.

Here are the major issues to research and ponder.

Lisa Jenn Bigelow Presents: Drumroll, Please

Join us in welcoming Lisa Jenn Bigelow back to Kalamazoo forย releaseย of her amazing new book, DRUM ROLL, PLEASE.

Meet Lisa, hear from her new book, and enjoy a performance by Kalamazoo Academy of Rock alumnus, Jacob Rollins.

Melly only joined the school band because her best friend, Olivia, begged her to. But to her surprise, quiet Melly loves playing the drums. Itโ€™s the only time in her life she doesnโ€™t feel like a mouse.

Now she and Olivia are about to spend the next two weeks at Camp Rockaway, jamming under the stars in the Michigan woods. But this summer brings big changes for Melly: her parents split up, her best friend ditches her, and Melly finds herself falling for a girl named Adeline. To top it off, Mellyโ€™s not sure she has what it takes to be a real rock โ€™nโ€™ roll drummer. Will she be able to makeโ€ฆ

Lilith and mirrorLilith ponders her reflection, unconcerned about what to wear

Welcome everyone.ย  While Iโ€™m finishing edits toย Atonement in Bloom, I chose to make things easy on myself and recycle a โ€œwriting processโ€ post.ย

Hats Off to Youย โ€”ย What to Wear in Atonement, TN

But first, a pleaโ€ฆ

What is your blog wearing?

Yes, this is selfish of me.ย  I see more and more blogs using gray textย (like this) in the body of the post.ย  Even when I โ€œzoomโ€ up to 200% I am unable to read it without difficulty.ย  Lately Iโ€™ve noticed an even lighter tone of gray (like this) โ€” which is flat out painful for me.ย  I realize other peopleโ€™s blogs are not โ€œabout meโ€ so please donโ€™t think Iโ€™m criticizing you.ย  Iโ€™m just letting you know that if Iโ€™m not there (and your words look like these), then itโ€™s probablyโ€ฆ

MARCIA MEARA

Please welcome author Marcia Meara to Jemsbooks Blog Author Interview Segment.

Thank you, Marcia, for coming today.

Lovely to be here today, Janice! Thanks so much for having me.

Iโ€™ll step aside so you can begin, Marcia. I look forward to learning more about you.

Please tell us something about yourself.

Iโ€™m Marcia (pronounced Marsha) and I live in central Florida. Iโ€™m an ardent lover of wildlife and have spent decades birding and canoeing in the many creeks and streams of my home state, far preferring Floridaโ€™s quiet, shady swamps to its hot, sunny beaches.

Iโ€™m particularly fond of reptiles, especially snakes, and I enjoy sharing the things Iโ€™ve learned over the years. I do two or three Meet the Author slide presentations per month at various local venues, speaking as often about our fabulous wildlife and wetlands as I do about books and writing.

Blood Reckoning by Danielle Ramsay @DanielleRamsay2 @MulhollandUK

51PdveVVHVLBook Description:

In the 1970s, a terrifying serial killer stalked the streets of Tynemouth. The press called himย the Joker. The crimes stopped โ€“ but the man was never caught.

And now heโ€™s back.

A body has been found in a sleazy motel room, murdered in exactly the same way as the Jokerโ€™s first victims.ย
Is it a copycat? A trick? Or is the Joker at work once more?

Itโ€™s onlyย DI Jack Bradyโ€™sย first day back โ€“ and this will be his most twisted case yet.ย
As Brady digs into both the old murders and the new, he must confront revenge, betrayal, love and liesโ€ฆand a truly ruthless killer.

My Thoughts:

Blood Reckoning is the fourth book in the DI Jack Brady series. I seem to be working my way backwards with this series having read book 5 first and have now just finished book 4. Even thoughโ€ฆ
